Louise TY (:
So today was my last day of Work Experience at the Primary Times.
Overall , I really enjoyed it and learned alot.
Today I got to do more magazine based things. I got to make the layout for the Summer Issue, I got to create the games page and I got to help choose articles. I also finished up the South places to go and I got over 250 more people to like the facebook page!

She said she was really impressed with me and offered me a part time job in June :)
I learned a lot and got to see all aspects of a magazine so thank you Primary Times :D

So it was my second last day on work today :(
I think that if i was to work in media, i'd like to do something a bit more active like journalism.
Today I uploaded about 30 Leinster places of interest to the website and sent of the eZine.

Tomorrow we are going to start planning the Summer Issue of Primary Times so that should be good :)

So on Day 3, I finally got all them emails sent out for facebook. I was glad to get them over with because I was getting sick of them! It's working though as over 180 more people have liked the page.
Then I started to work on the Ezine, it's like a newsletter that gets sent out to the Primary Times mailing list with news and links to competitions, articles etc.
After lunch I got a pile of invoices, a pile of a4 envelopes, a pile of West magazines , and small sticky notes :) I had to get an invoice , find wherever they were mentioned in the magazine and put a sticky note there. Then I had to put the invoice and the magazine in the envelope and move on to the next one. It was nice to get a break from the computer :)

This morning I was very happy going to work as i had an idea of what i would be doing.

When I arrived I continued mailing the facebook friends telling them about the new page. Primary Times has 1500 friends so it will probably take me the week to get them all done, I'm finished up to "m" so I'm half way there :L

Then I was given a list of places of interest in the west of Ireland. I had to research them and write like a review on them. That was fun :) http://www.primarytimes.net/placesToGo.htm It took a while but it looks good

Looking forward to tomorrow..

This morning I arrived at Primary Times Leinster just before 10.00.
I met Orla before so it wasnt the first time I talked to which made things easier.
We sat down at the table and she showed me past magazines and explained to me about prime advertising positions and articles. She writes most of the articles herself but some come in from England where the head office is.
After that she showed me how she keeps in contact with her printer who is in Newry. It was really interesting.
Then she showed me her website and facebook page and asked me to work on them.
I then went home for lunch for 3/4hour.
When I came back I continued to sent emails and messages to convince people to like the facebook page...when 1000 people like it someone will win a family break away.
It was a good day :)

I'm going to work experience tomorrow for the week. I'm nervous but excited :)
I'm going to the Primary Times because i'm interested in Media.
A woman runs it on her own so it's going to be really interesting as Ill get to see all aspects of running a magazine that goes to 40,000 homes. I'll learn about the editing, the business side, the production , the distribution and hopefully more..
I hope to post everyday what I get up too :)

Next week is work experience #2 and I'm really excited.
I'm going to the Primary Times magazine which is for parents with ideas on where they can bring their children and what to do with them. (http://www.primarytimes.net/home_ie.php)
I am looking forward to it because if I dont get to be a primary school teacher i think i'd like to work in media.

Today I felt sad as I went to work as the week had flown by so quickly and I didn't want it to be over :S
This morning I called the girls down in groups of 4 to do their artwork. They were making circles from the tops of drinking glasses and pots etc. This took the majority of the morning but it was fun because the girls are really random and the things they come up with to say is really funny :)
After lunch I made an art folder for each girl and wrote their names on it with stencils.
I then went into Aoife and helped in their by glueing posters , putting up posters , taking down posters...
At 3.20 we then found Ms P for having us and went home.
I really enjoyed the experience this week and hope to become a primary school teacher when i'm older :)
Louise TY (:
This morning Ms A sent girls down to me to practise their reading. Some girls could read them no problem, but a few girls struggled. At break I helped Aoife cut up some Gruffalos as she had 60 to do! After lunch I went to Ms McB's room again where I set them up for art where they were painting clay custard pots from a story they were doing in English...I remember that story! I then had to write all the girls names onto their parent -teacher meeting forms and I felt like a proper teacher ;) At 2 o clock I went into Ms M's room where Aoife and I painted a huge tree, and made 60 booklets of 26 pages for the next two hours :o
Another good day and I don't want to be finished tomorrow!

Today was a very cold morning and when I got to the classroom Ms A was already there. I set to work at taking down the girls artwork and sticking the artwork they did on Monday to coloured sugar paper. I then put them all up on the wall. Today the girls had circle time and they were learning about good friendships:)
I was then send to Ms McB's room because she needed some help. This is a mixed class of 1st and 2nd class. I took down all of their Autumn artwork and organised it into their folders. I then organised all of the teachers sheets into a folder.
At lunchtime , Mr L came in to see how we were getting on.
Hopefully tomorrow I get to do more stuff with the girls and I will have plenty to do:)

I was a lot more relaxed going into work today:)
When I got in Ms A was running a bit late so I minded the class for a few minutes.
We then went to Irish Dancing. My old irish dancing teacher was still there and we talked for a few minutes. It was really cute seeing all the 5 and 6 year olds dancing around the place:)
I helped back in the classroom and then I went on a break. In the staffroom , my old 3rd class teacher Ms E was there , and my 5th class teacher Ms McN where there. Me and Fiona talked to them for a while and it was nice but a bit awkward!
After break , I tested the girls on their "tricky words" such as I , was , to and be.
Then some of the girls came down to me and I helped them with their vowels and words.
After lunch, the girls learned a poem about a bird and then I helped them to learn how to write their "d" and "D".
I had another great day and I want to be a primary school teacher in the future:)

This morning I was really nervous as I made my way to St Brigids.
When we got there , we were told to wait in reception. At 9.20 Mrs P came out to us and welcomed us. She brought us to our classes and introduced us to our teacher. I am in Ms A's senior infants :D.
I got to do loads today , I minded the class and read them a book about animals and then talked about random animals. I sorted out all of their homework and copies. I also did painting with some of the girls as well as other things. I had a great time:)

Yesterday we got more sponsors for our mini-company ( www.greenheromag.blogspot.com ) and we now have just enough money to cover printing costs :) We are going to get together over the weekend to work on the magazine , and we hope to have it published for mid-November.

On Thursday we have a half day and I have a meeting with a lady to finalise my March work experience.
We have our first work experience in a few weeks. I am going to a primary school and I am really excited because I think that's what I want to be :)

In Tech today I finished a keyring I made and I'm very happy with it because I've never made anything before :)
