Last Friday a man from the county council came in to encourage TY's to cycle to school instead of driving. We saw a video clip from the Netherlands where everyone cycles and it's almost frowned upon to drive! I found this really different than Ireland because only 2% of the population cycle.
I think I would cycle if it was more normal here and safer however i don't have a bike :/
This is part of the transport Green Flag that our school are working on at the moment. :)

Today after lunch all the TY's went to the demo room for a talk. A man came in from WEEE Ireland (
www.weeeireland.ie) He was telling us how to recycle electrical products and especially batteries because he said that for the amount of batteries sold not many are recycled. He explained to us about a competition to get people to recycle batteries ; maybe the Green Schools will be interested in doing it?
We are going to the RDS tomorrow for the young scientist tomorrow so that should be fun. A TY group are in the competiton and a 5th year group from our school so hopefully they do well :)
