Today at 1.45 all of the
TY's and 5
th years went to the hall for the Poland draw.
There was 89 applicants, but only 40 places and 15 on the reserve list so it was practically a 50/50 chance.
I really wanted to go, but I didn't want to get my hopes up as I applied for Paris in second year.
Anyway they started calling out the names and I was one of the first pulled out. I was sooo happy :)
To be honest I thought it was unfair that some girls missed out on this trip and some people got to go to Paris and Poland , but maybe they'll get to go somewhere else ... :)

So the regional finals are on in exactly one month in Griffith College, Dublin.
At the moment I am very busy setting up the facebook page and blog. I am also looking for sponsorship and trying to get articles into the local newspapers. Roisin is busy working on the car itself and I don’t mind not being involved on that part of the project because I know nothing about Solid Works (:

For Technology we got to the regional finals in the

It involves us creating a formula 1 "car of the future". I am marketing and finance manager so I am in charge of getting sponsors and promoting our car and our team
Swift. I don't know much about Tech but we learn about manufacturing , engineering and business through this competition. :)

On Friday alter weeks and weeks of preparation we had our TY fashion show. At the beginning of TY each group were given plain shorts, a plain t-shirt and €15. We were given the colour red. Originally in my group we came up with an off the shoulder dress with a bubble-hem skirt inspired by Cheryl Cole. Our inspiration was love. Unfortunately, our outfit got off to a bad start when the red dye turned our clothes purple so we had to completely change our design when things kept going wrong. So we were relieved when Friday finally came along. Our model Niamh P wore a red tutu like skirt and the black top embellished with red beads around the neck. There were red polka dots on the skirt and our inspiration was still love, but changed to Katy Perry. We played the song firework, because like our outfit it was different, but not afraid to be which is what the song is all about. At the end when we found out we had won a tin of Roses for our presentation we were delighted! It was good fun J

Today I felt sad as I went to work as the week had flown by so quickly and I didn't want it to be over :S
This morning I called the girls down in groups of 4 to do their artwork. They were making circles from the tops of drinking glasses and pots etc. This took the majority of the morning but it was fun because the girls are really random and the things they come up with to say is really funny :)
After lunch I made an art folder for each girl and wrote their names on it with stencils.
I then went into Aoife and helped in their by glueing posters , putting up posters , taking down posters...
At 3.20 we then found Ms P for having us and went home.
I really enjoyed the experience this week and hope to become a primary school teacher when i'm older :)

This morning Ms A sent girls down to me to practise their reading. Some girls could read them no problem, but a few girls struggled. At break I helped Aoife cut up some Gruffalos as she had 60 to do! After lunch I went to Ms McB's room again where I set them up for art where they were painting clay custard pots from a story they were doing in English...I remember that story! I then had to write all the girls names onto their parent -teacher meeting forms and I felt like a proper teacher ;) At 2 o clock I went into Ms M's room where Aoife and I painted a huge tree, and made 60 booklets of 26 pages for the next two hours :o
Another good day and I don't want to be finished tomorrow!

Today was a very cold morning and when I got to the classroom Ms A was already there. I set to work at taking down the girls artwork and sticking the artwork they did on Monday to coloured sugar paper. I then put them all up on the wall. Today the girls had circle time and they were learning about good friendships:)
I was then send to Ms McB's room because she needed some help. This is a mixed class of 1st and 2nd class. I took down all of their Autumn artwork and organised it into their folders. I then organised all of the teachers sheets into a folder.
At lunchtime , Mr L came in to see how we were getting on.
Hopefully tomorrow I get to do more stuff with the girls and I will have plenty to do:)

I was a lot more relaxed going into work today:)
When I got in Ms A was running a bit late so I minded the class for a few minutes.
We then went to Irish Dancing. My old irish dancing teacher was still there and we talked for a few minutes. It was really cute seeing all the 5 and 6 year olds dancing around the place:)
I helped back in the classroom and then I went on a break. In the staffroom , my old 3rd class teacher Ms E was there , and my 5th class teacher Ms McN where there. Me and Fiona talked to them for a while and it was nice but a bit awkward!
After break , I tested the girls on their "tricky words" such as I , was , to and be.
Then some of the girls came down to me and I helped them with their vowels and words.
After lunch, the girls learned a poem about a bird and then I helped them to learn how to write their "d" and "D".
I had another great day and I want to be a primary school teacher in the future:)

This morning I was really nervous as I made my way to St Brigids.
When we got there , we were told to wait in reception. At 9.20 Mrs P came out to us and welcomed us. She brought us to our classes and introduced us to our teacher. I am in Ms A's senior infants :D.
I got to do loads today , I minded the class and read them a book about animals and then talked about random animals. I sorted out all of their homework and copies. I also did painting with some of the girls as well as other things. I had a great time:)

Yesterday we got more sponsors for our mini-company (
www.greenheromag.blogspot.com ) and we now have just enough money to cover printing costs :) We are going to get together over the weekend to work on the magazine , and we hope to have it published for mid-November.
On Thursday we have a half day and I have a meeting with a lady to finalise my March work experience.
We have our first work experience in a few weeks. I am going to a primary school and I am really excited because I think that's what I want to be :)
In Tech today I finished a keyring I made and I'm very happy with it because I've never made anything before :)

Today (Thursday), in double Mini-Co we decided on a really good idea for our business and we hope to make it as successful as possible.J We are confident that we have a strong product, so hopefully it will work out!
Our fun walk is tomorrow, and the TY’s are in charge of staying at the junctions and helping people get across the road safely. Our colour is yellow, and class Amina have been practising our dance at every chance we get – in our 3 P.E. classes this week and in geography and English today. Hopefully we will win and we have a great day! J

At 7o clock on monday morning we set off to Carlingford. We were all tired but very excited. When we arrived the weather was overcast but it didnt dampen our spirits! We went in and unpacked , and where split into 6 groups of 10 and met our instructors. I was put into group 4 and groups 4 5 and 6 were put together for the two days. First we went to the challenge course. We did the low ropes , the water pump , communication breakdown and the maze. We had great fun and got very wet and muddy! :) We then went back for lunch , did canadian canoeing and pier jumping in the afternoon , and then walked back for dinner. At 7.00 we went out for a night walk up the mountain and got chinese when we got back. Groups 1-3 didnt arrive back from the walk for more than a hour after us because they got lost up the mountain in the dark! Then we went off to bed.
On tuesday we had to get up early to pack , clean our rooms , strip our beds and have breakfast before the activities started at 9.00. We did the high ropes in the morning and i had a great time trying out the three sections. At lunch we found out that high winds were coming so all water activities were cancelled. We went mountain orienteering for the afternoon and the sun finally came out!
We went back to the centre ,got our bags and left for home. We all had a great time but we were all exausted. The few days were great and we learned alot about our new classmates through the activities. :)

On Monday we had a Social Development Day with Austin Dunne in the library. We had a really good time and learnt a lot about ourselves, and our new classmates. We learned about confidence and personality and other things and played lots of games along the wayJ. We found out that there are 4 different types of personality and we split ourselves into them groups-yellow, blue, green and red. We then had an exercise to do and it was good to see how the different teams understood and went about the same topic. The blues were the observers, the reds where the directors, the yellows were the entertainers and the greens were the moderators. We had a great day and it helped us to bond as a class and learn about each other.
Carlingford on monday and tuesday ... i cant wait:)
